Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how askFinz, an entity under Paul V | Holdings ("askFinz," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you access or use the askFinz platform, including the Search Platform, Browser Extension, Desktop Browser, AI services, mobile applications, and all associated APIs and infrastructure (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Data: Name, email address, password (hashed), and profile information when you register.
  • Payment Data: Billing address and payment method details (processed via our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers).
  • Communications: Support requests, feedback, and correspondence you send to us.
  • User-Generated Content: Queries, saved searches, notes, uploaded documents, and other content you create within the Services.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, session duration, click patterns, and interaction logs.
  • Device & Browser Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, time zone, and screen resolution.
  • Indexing Data: When you use the askFinz Browser Extension or Desktop Browser, metadata about web pages you visit may be collected for indexing purposes as described in Section 3.
  • Log Data: Server logs including request timestamps, error messages, and response codes.
  • Cookies & Tracking Technologies: As described in our Cookie Policy.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • OAuth sign-in providers (e.g., Google, GitHub) if you choose to authenticate via these services.
  • Public data sources, news feeds, financial data providers, and research databases that form part of the search index.
  • Analytics and fraud-prevention partners.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To operate, maintain, and improve the Services; to process transactions; to authenticate users.
  • AI & Product Development: To train, fine-tune, evaluate, test, and improve our AI models and search algorithms. Interaction data, usage patterns, and anonymised query data may be used to improve model quality, relevance, safety, and performance.
  • Personalisation: To tailor search results, recommendations, and features to your preferences and usage patterns.
  • Security & Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents, abuse, and fraudulent activity.
  • Analytics & Research: To understand how the Services are used, measure performance, conduct internal research, and develop new features.
  • Marketing & Communications: To send product updates, promotional materials, and other communications where you have consented or where we have a legitimate interest. You may opt out at any time.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and enforce our agreements.
  • Business Operations: For bug fixing, security vulnerability remediation, infrastructure optimisation, and operational continuity.

3. Browser Extension & Desktop Browser Data

The askFinz Browser Extension and Desktop Browser collect page metadata (URLs, titles, headings, meta descriptions, structured data) from web pages you visit to build a personalised search index. This data is:

  • Processed locally on your device and selectively transmitted to askFinz servers for enrichment and indexing.
  • Subject to configurable scope controls — you can restrict which sites are indexed.
  • Never used to record passwords, form inputs, or payment information entered on third-party sites.
  • Retained for as long as your account is active, or until you request deletion.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Service Providers: Cloud infrastructure providers, payment processors, analytics platforms, email delivery services, and other vendors who process data on our behalf under contractual data-protection obligations.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of the transaction.
  • Legal Requirements: To comply with a legal obligation, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of askFinz, our users, or the public.
  • With Your Consent: For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection with your explicit consent.

5. AI Training & Data Use

askFinz may use anonymised, aggregated, or pseudonymised data derived from user interactions to train, evaluate, fine-tune, and improve AI models used within the Services. This includes but is not limited to improving search relevance, response quality, classification accuracy, safety filters, and new product capabilities. Where required by applicable law, we will seek your consent before using identifiable personal data for AI training purposes.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for the lifetime of your account and for up to 90 days after deletion.
  • Indexed content metadata is retained until you delete it or close your account.
  • Usage logs and analytics data are retained for up to 24 months.
  • Payment records are retained as required by applicable financial and tax laws.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection / Restriction: Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@askfinz.ai. We will respond within 30 days. Requests may be subject to identity verification.

8. International Data Transfers

askFinz operates globally. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), access controls, regular security audits, and vulnerability management programmes. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us immediately at privacy@askfinz.ai and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
